This problem is faced by many other car users too.
The cooling fan comes ON,when the temperature reaches at certain level.
ON Buick models the fan will not turn on untill it reached 225 to 230 .make sure radiator cap is on and coolant system is bled and all the air is out.But the fan will not come on untill 225 to 230.
Another possibility can be problem with temperature sensor. There are two temperature sensor and one fan relay.By pass the relay and see ,if fan turns on,this indicates relay is faulty.
The fan runs off the computer sensor.By the 2 wire coolant sensor. Then once it hits 225 to 230 the ECM will turn on the fan.Make sure the coolent system is bled put the cap on and run it at idle.If the sensors are faulty it will not show acurate readings the computer is getting. In that case replace the temperature sensors and then watch the gauge the needle should get to above 3/4 like 1/2 way between 3/4 and the red and then the fan should kick on.If you bleed the air out of the coolant system it should work fine.If the needle gets to the red shut it off.just when it hits the red will NOT damage anything. But if you still keep it on,cooling components may get shorted and you will even notice overheating issues.
This details will help you to confirm the problem.Thanks.
